India is known worldwide for three things: spirituality, movies, and cricket. India produces the highest number of movies in the world. Yet, how good are we to analyze or critique a film? How skilled are we in appreciating a good script, direction, acting, photography, and many other subtle elements that make up a good film? Do we have a taste for recognizing and exploring the depths of human psyche and complexity or simplicity of human behavior that an independent movie may capture so eloquently? Are we able to recognize when art imitates life or when life imitates art in our midst? The SCCZ Film Club offers Claretinesmonthly opportunities to enjoy movies with a difference, analyze them from various perspectives, and to develop skills for becoming film critics.
